The Story Behind
The Quattro Formaggi pizza emerged in Northern Italy during the 1970s, born from the tradition of cheese platters served in Alpine regions. Pizzaiolos in Lombardy and Piedmont, surrounded by some of Italy's finest cheese producers, began experimenting with combining their local specialties on pizza. The concept gained national popularity when it appeared in Roman pizzerias, where the combination was refined to achieve perfect balance between the four distinct cheese flavors.
